Prank

Is this prank clever or sick?
And how would you react if you were in the elevator and this happened to you?

First of all Brazilians have a very unusual sense of humor, second of all pranks like that bring all sort of psychological harm to the samples.
Although it was a pretty successful prank and i have to confess i really enjoyed it, the negative sides to it can not be ignored. If there was any debriefing done after the event than it makes the experiment less harmful but if there was no sign of debriefing than whoever has done it should be punished.
If i were the one in that situation i believe i would be more scared being trapped than seeing the little girl, i don't and i have never believed in ghosts and as soon as i'd see the girl i would've known it was a prank, but that's just me. Many people specially in Latin countries believe in the supernatural but i don't.

In my opinion, its sick and pathetic on how the world can enjoy on someone else's misery and this elevator prank video has become viral on facebook, after seeing this video for the first time i was terrified and just the thought of ever encontering a situation like this bought me goosebumps. I think it no longer appears to be funny, because this can leave a long term psycological harm and few of the prank targets were elderly men and women. The sudden appearance of a freaky girl could also end up in a heart stroke or develop a phobia of lifts or enclosed places ( claustrophobia). In a nut shell, pranks are supposed to be witty and light hearted but not to an extend that a person cant bear, this act should be discouraged and should not be tried at any cost.

Pranks are mainly popular because no one can ascertain the reaction of the "victims". It is that look of horror, disgust or fear that draws and captivates the audience. And therein lies the danger. Many such antics have ended badly because the pranksters go to great lengths to get such a response, and I really just think that It's fortunate that none of them suffered heart failure when the pale girl suddenly materialised in a seemingly empty lift therefore I'd say it's more of a sick joke than a clever prank. Furthermore I'd be shocked and I'd definitely panic and be terrified if i was in this situation Not because I do or do not believe in ghosts but more because they had the element of surprise.

Moreover i strongly feel that There must be a line between a juvenile joke and a dangerous prank.

As amusing it is to watch someone being made a fool out of, I'd hate to be in their shoes. Ever since I first saw this video, I have been super nervous about entering even my building elevator. Got such a fright the other day when I found out that they had switched off the elevator lights for the day (I can not imagine why!). Had to turn to the stairs! I would probably have a heart attack if someone did that to me.

I saw this a while ago and was really suprised. I don't think this prank is clever, and though it may be amusing for anyone who watches it- I would really really hate to be subject to something like this, and honestly cannot imagine what I would do if I was all alone in an elevator and have this happen to me. People need to channel their creative energy elsewhere.

I don't know if I would call it "clever". Like Ramin mentioned, it was a pretty successful prank, but then again, we're not shown the ones that probably failed :p They might have realized what was happening when they saw the girl.

I would say it was clever if I thought it was both well thought through and funny, but it is a little sick. Sure the girl did her job pretty well but this is something we'd expect and enjoy in a horror movie or something (I would actually enjoy it in a horror movie..) However, I would definitely not laugh it off after being informed it was a prank if it had happened to me.

Like the rest said, it could happen that the people were actually psychologically harmed and developed phobias after, we never know.

It's sick how people find this funny/amusing. Sure, they mean no harm when they do such pranks, but there's so much that can go wrong. What if one of these people had a serious phobia of something like this? It could have harmed them psychologically. Some people also tend to be very superstitious.
I would hate to be involved in a prank of this sort. Like others said, pranks are meant to be light-hearted.

I would say it was Cleve mainly in the way it was executed, clearly a lot of thought went into this to make sure it was as effective as it is. At the same time, I unfortunately can't empathize with the situation since such demeaning pranks were so commonplace in my region. I'm sure it was more than cruel, but watching it from a viewers perspective, I couldn't but myself in their shoes.

It's a bit of both really. Basically I'd laugh if it happened to other people but if it happened to me I'd be frightened to death and definitely wouldn't enjoy it as much haha. anyways what if they were all actors/actresses?

When I first saw this on youtube I thought it was quite funny, and I enjoyed watching peoples reactions to the zombie like girl. However once I started thinking of how I would react to this incident, I thought it was a sick joke. I would have a heart attack if it would happend to me and would probably never be able to enter an elevator again in my life. What makes me curious is that they dont show peoples reactions after the ''prank'' is over.

As we do not know the intensions of the prank,we cannot tell wether its right or wrong. It could be a psychological experiment conducted for a reason. On the other hand it could also be traumatizing for the people who are being pranked. In my opinion It is a bit morbid but definitely funny prank.

When this video came out on YouTube and became an internet sensation, I didn’t dare myself to watch this video in the first place. I knew it was a prank but I didn’t like the idea of it on having it on the elevator. I felt bad for the people who have been victimized by this prank because this can cause a health and safety hazard. What if the victim fainted during the prank? What if the victim would purposely hit the ‘Ghost’ thinking that it was real and he/she did it for their own self-defence? Also this prank is very disrespectful to the ‘Souls’ because they find it as an offense and they should be left alone in peace. Pranks should never be taken to an extreme extent otherwise something would go terribly wrong and who is to blame in the end of it?

To begin with the 1st question i would say its both, its a mix of sickness and intelligence. It requires a twisted mind to design a clever prank. So my answer its neutral. And proceeding to the 2nd question, i can say many things that i would do if i was in that situation such as poke the "ghost" with whatever i have on hand to jump out of the elevator(most likely that one) but in real life when im there, i would do something that i would not expefpct since i wouldnt be thinking due to the effects of adrenaline and fear.

Reading all the previous comments besides Ramin's, I feel quite horrible as I must admit I found it quite amusing and funny. Whether the video is fake or not it's clever. I enjoy watching pranks because I believe that's when the truth of the human behaviour shows up, if you step on the victim's shoes no matter who you are I can guarantee fear, fear in one way or the other.

If I were in this situation I would obviously be afraid, yes it's quite cruel who they've targeted but at the end of the day, they must have also given some sort of compensation. And as to what other people say about pranks being SHOULD be light-hearted, I personally don't believe so. I believe that when YOU put yourself as the Pranker it's very difficult to control the degree of cruelty in the prank.

Firstly, I'd like to say that I thought it was a pretty well planned prank, and kind of hilarious for the ones watching it. However, "clever" it may be, but I believe it's wrong. As some people may not have taken it too well, or had a weak heart, they could have physically harmed someone by it, and also psychologically as well. It may be funny, but its not a very pleasant thing to do to another person.
I for one, know that if that ever happened to me, I could immediately start screaming and crying and beg someone to open the door. That is because I have a fear of the supernatural, just like many others, whom could have been the subjects. Some people believe in the supernatural in almost everything they see, where as others, do not believe in it.
If I were to scared in that way, I would probably sue the people. Also, never go in an elevator again.

If this would had happened with me in reality i would have ended up fainting or loosing my voice but this is one kind of experience that I would like to experience or prank someone with a similar idea like this. The only thing i was worried about during the video that there were many people who were old age and this raised the chances of people experiencing health issues anyways the idea is super smart but a little careless towards health.
