Where does a headache go when it goes away?

Hm. Good question..

Well, I believe it leaves along with what caused it. The headache we get from being in the sun for too long eventually goes away when we move out of the sunlight. The back pains and tensions we get in our body when sitting in front of our computers the whole day also at some point gets better as soon as we lie down, which similarly goes for headaches, most commonly caused by some sort of stress or illness.

But, perhaps..the headache just leaves one person and goes on to the next one person who needs to slow down.:)

I think that like benedickte mentioned it goes away eventually along with the cause of it but becomes non existent and when there is need for it, it develops all over again.

With the panadol one takes to get rid of it?
(hehe)
Like Benedickte said sometimes headaches leave when the source of it leaves, like the sun or something that really stresses you out(for example,*coughcough*, a debate). But honestly, I'm not sure: I suppose on those days you get one for no apparent reason, it goes away with a good night's sleep :)

*POOF* It magically disappears into oblivion or, in the words of Proffessor McGonagall, Head of Gryffindor and deputy Head at Hogwarts School of Withcraft and Wizardry, "Into non-being, which is to say, everything." [reference: pg #476, sentence 4, chapter 30 'The Sacking of Severus Snape' of the first edition Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows].

Maybe it just poofs away or it just ceases to hurt, waiting for the next opportunity to start hurting again.

But like Teresa mentioned, it vanishes with good dosage of sleep. (:

Like many others mentioned, I also believe it leaves along with its source. That's just the 'logical' answer to the question.

However, the actual cause of headaches is the contraction and stressing of the muscles that cover the skull, and this due to either physical or emotional stress. So, as you relax and loosen up, these muscles will relax as well causing relief and this is how the pain gradually fades away.

If we're speaking in the literal sense, then yes, I guess I agree with everyone. A headache goes away with sleep, or with a pop of a few panadols, or like Moza said, when you loosen up, or relax your muscles..

But if we're not speaking so literally, then maybe Edeline's right. Maybe it does magically disappear into non-being like McGonagall said..
Or maybe it never goes away. Maybe it goes away, but is actually stored somewhere inside you. Build up, in stacks. And maybe one day, it all just hits you at once, and maybe that's what kills us.

I think it just disappears. It is there for a while because obviously your Blood vessels in your head are functioning wrong ( I Think thats what happens :D ) But it heals up and just vanishes.

What ever causing it has been cured? It could have simply been a cold or maybe anxiety. Either way it is the factor causing it the gets resolved.

I think it just poofs away :P
or maybe a good amount of sleep makes it go away and/or relaxing (: so the most obvious and common thing to do to avoid headache's would be to try having less stressful days and just to sit back and chill (:

I think it simply dissolves like sugar in tea.

But it only occurs when you are tensed, tired or don't have a balanced diet.

I imagine a headache as a raging animal or monster inside our head, heating our brain up. So when a headache is cured, I believe that the monster has been fed and hence quietens down and shrinks to the back of our skull until his hunger rises up again.
So to answer the question, I'd just say its neatly folded up in a drawer in the attic of your head or something.
