I think that a 'nerd' is someone who just knows way too much, that a 'geek' is someone who is, as our generation say, uncool and a 'dork' is usually someone who in my opinion is both of these and is just overall annoying.
I might be a nerd... or used to be... I mean who isn't (or wasn't)?
A nerd is, as mentioned, someone who supercedes their level of intellectual expectations, or someone who does not know anything about or how to cope with things outside the boundaries of education and intellectual stimulation.
A Geek refers to a specific type of people that do things frowned upon or not fully understood by most and is not very socially interactive. They are people who find it difficult to relate or connect with most other individuals unlike them.
A dork is, I believe, someone less intellectual and more bland. They have nothing much going for them.
I'd like to say I'm a nerd but I think I fall more into the second category.
A nerd, according to my perception, is one of those stereotypical science-genius type people that are wholly science or computer proficient but completely lacking in any other department including social or athletic prowess.
A geek is similar in these terms though is more often used in terms of technology obsessed individuals.
The word 'dork' is increasingly becoming a term of endearment for goofy or or clumsy behaviour, but was previously a sort of loser who didn't stand out in any way but rather seemed to make a fool of themselves and appeared socially-lacking.
I am hopelessly clumsy, but would like to think I do, indeed, stand out :P
People occasionally keep thinking that nerds,geeks and dorks are actually the same and that there is no difference, but to their surprise they in fact do differ.
A nerd to sum up in simple words, is a person who has the intelligence, is extremely industrious and comprehends well.The stereotype of a nerd is a skinny person with glasses and a pocket protector. On the other hand, geeks are people who are interested in things that others do not have interest in, know a lot about their interests but usually do not understand underlying principles. A dork is known to be as a foolish and clumsy person, they are the type of people who would do ludicrous and immature things.
