Cross-curricular week

Cross-curricular week
Discursive Writing - Fashion

It's cross-curricular week at school and the theme is "fashion." In coordination with the other departments, the year 7s are working on a leaflet; the year 8s are working on a poster; and the year 9s are working on an essay.

In the past, men wore wigs and women wore hats; traditional clothes were widely worn; and fabric fibres were mostly natural. All this has changed in the last fifty or so years. How do you think fashion will change in the next hundred years?

...Personally, I think that clothing began nonexistent and will end nonexistent.

In all seriousness, though, I think fashion will increasingly become an expression of individuality. People say fashion is what you make of it but really? Right now? I doubt it.

But I do believe - and hope, I guess - that it will become a personal statement for everyone. Maybe it will be inspired by everything around us, much like Lady Gaga's clothing (lol cigarette sunglasses anyone?)

...still, I hope this is as raunchy as it'll get. Leading fashion designers are drawing inspiration from trends gone by and I really, really hope they bring back some of the classy clothing of the 40s or 20s - I could do with a flapper dress.

Oh, and haaaaaats!

I must agree with Neiha on this, I would like to se the 20's come back as well as the 40's and 50's :)

Fashion in the next 100 years can't be predicted!
this is because,
We may not be consciously aware that we are being brainwashed by the media and by the general society about what is in fashion and what isnt, for e.g. Wearing bootleg jeans isnt in fashion compared to wearing skinny jeans.
When i was like 8, bootlegs were the 'trend'

Looking at how much fashion has evolved, it's evident that less is more compared to what women in the victorian era used to wear!
imagine wearing a dress with a net-structure holding it up and poufed up.

Even though i have a strong passion for fashion design, i honestly cannot come anywhere near a faint idea about what fashion in a 100 years will be like =)

Fashion in the next hundred years will probably be similiar to now; a cycle of how clothing etc. in the past comes back into fashion.

fashion in the next hundred will probably be a dramatic change. i like what myra said about the fashion today will come back in the future. but who knows, dressing up in paint might even be the norm!

About 50-100 years ago, I don't think they had the vaguest idea of how clothing and fashion would revolutionize the way it has today, and that women would actually be wearing pants and skirts and what not.

Try as we might, I don't think anyone can tell. Ofcourse, as we discussed in class, more intelligent fabric could be created, that adapt to extreme weathers and change colours. Personally, I feel technology will somehow take over our clothing too.

I hope this blog lasts long; probably 50 years or so in the future I'll come back here and see how accurate our posts were :)

No one can tell what crazy humans can come up with!!!!

It might change dramatically or history can repeat itself.

Or maybe there will be a mix….the old with the new!

(((((But as Mehvash said fabric could be intelligent!))))))

:D

I think that fashion may repeat itself. Yet, you never know. Anything that might seem absurd to wear today may be the style in the next 50-100 years.
