Film Club Selection

A la folie pas du tout

The title, a la folie pas du tout, is more ironic and telling than the unknowing viewer would dare to guess. A whimsical love story, yes it is. But its whimsy is short-lived and fades quickly to concentrate on the dark underbelly of relationships, emotional attachment, and the complexity of the human spirit

I liked the movie it was really intresting with surprising characters.

Funny,Deep and a good watch.

nothing to hate about it really even the fact that it was in french didn't seem to bother.

Plus it gave a pretty damn good message

"Never Fall in Love"

Haha zaid! i dont really think that was the message intended! LOL

I liked it alot too, it was like beyonce's film 'obsessed'..

Definately scary how people can get so caught up.. :S But overall it was intriguing and amusing!

I think the movie was disturbingly good :p

I was actually very wrong about it since I thought that Loic was the "bad guy", I thought he led her on and just left her. But then, it showed us his side of the story, he wasnt bad at all. She was purely obsessed with him, she fell in love with him and started fantasizing about him. It seemed foolish to other people but to her it was real, she thought he loved her and that she had a future with him.

The movie shows us how obsessive people can be, a person may seem sweet or nice on the outside but you never know what he/she is capable of doing.

It was a really good movie, it was something different. I really enjoyed it. :]

loved it, loved it, loved ittttt!

Wonderfully portrayed characters, unconventional story line.

I especially love how the director formatted the film. Like, initially we were all made to develop a hateful opinion towards 'Loic' which changed later on, since the flashback came into play depicting the episode from Loic's perspective.

Oh btw sir, can we give suggestions for next week's movie?
If so, we should watch 'The Song of Sparrows', since you've shown a liking towards world cinema :P (it's a farsi film, watched it over the summer, plain awesome )

I thought it was a really good movie. It had a twist in it which added on to its whole mysterious way.Loic wasnt the 'bad guy' afterall but then he did a mistake of getting drunk and sleeping with another woman besides his wife so he wasnt completly innocent.I thought the girl was really freaky and scary to be honest =P,but i guess it wasnt her fault if she had that sickness

I loved the movieee x)
it was veryy disturbing, yet there is a romantic part in it. It missleads you in way, to be honest the way the movie was played out made us all thinking.

Like in the beginning everyone thought Luic was the guy who had no morals and was a total bad guy *being polite here* then when the movie switched views, the entire time she was the lunatic. it scares me how some people get so attached and obssessed with these kind of matters. The fact that there are actually people out there that would create a life of thier own in their minds and force themselves to believe the artificial lives they have thought out.

Veryy good choice Mr.Roberts :)

Zaid. i do not think that the movie was showing us to "Never fall in love" -_-"

That was the best movie you've showed us so far, Mr.Roberts!:D

Well..
At first, we see the movie from Angelique's point of view. She leads us into believing that she and Loic had some sort of affair, which kept getting more intense and serious. We see Loic as the bad guy, as it seems like he keeps standing her up, and never seems to care about her.

Angelique is very delusional about what really happens. She thinks shes in a relationship, which in reality doesn't even exist. And, she gets us to think about it the same way. However, through the course of movie, we get to see the actual truth, through Loic's eyes.

Loic is just an innocent doctor who is in love with his wife, and expecting a child. However, due to Angeliques psychotic acts, the child dies in its mothers womb. Loic and Angelique never really have any sort of affair. Angelique just takes the slightest signs of attention from the man as a relationship, and creates a mountain out of a molehill. Loic is faced with alot of problems because of this 'stalker' of his - who keeps sending him flowers and cards.

Angeliques disillousion leads her to doing very dark acts such as murder. She is so attached to Loic(though she barely has reason to be) that she ends up killing a woman, to save Loics career. She wants him, and cares for him, and she wants no one else to get in the way of them. She would do anything to keep him happy, as we can see - even murder. Basically... She's a psychopath.

Towards the end, we see that Angelique is put into a home for psychopaths, as her murderous acts and stalkerish thinking is revealed. The movie is very dark, it tells us alot about how you can get so attached to a person, and how humans can sometimes be so easily misleaded and delusioned.

All in all, i LOVEDDD IT :)

Mr Roberts.

What are the restrictions to which movie's are we allowed to contribute ?

Cause I got a bunch of amazing movies that about 10% of the population had the intelligance to watch. Sadly there all High Age limits.

Zaid,
Obviously, at school we can't watch movies with nudity, sex, or too much violence/foul language. So any movie recommendations must be reviewed by me first.

AMAZING! Excellent choice Mr. Roberts! Personally, I had a deep sympathy for the poor girl! Is it so wrong to want something you dont have? Especially love? She can do better though! XD

and the ending; WOW!

I REALLY LIKE IT!

Extremely disappointed I missed this! -.-

What's your pick for tomorrow sir?

I really enjoyed this one, probably the best of the lot so far :)

The Dark themed twist in the film got everyone suprised as to how wrong our idea of the movie was going up until that point.

The characters were played well, we were first led to believe Angelique was an innocent girl, lost in her love for Loic who instead would stand her up everytime she would wait for him.
But little did we know, that the so called 'love' Loic had for her was all in her head & thus non-existant.

It was a great movie that gets you thinking at how love can mess with some people in the head.

A great movie allround, but the ending/conclusion just struck me as PERFECT. The way she pretended she was better with all the help & medication, but we find out she had never taken any of them to begin with, but instead created a Loic abstract/collage with her pills [Which I found simply magnificant to be honest x]

Yes indeed it was a dark, disturbing themed love story.
But I'd love to have it no other way ;)

PS: Sorry for the late post. Im just getting the account set up & stuff and I shall blog from now on ;)
