Slash by Anthony Bozza
Review by Josh Monteath
“It seems Excessive…. But that doesn’t mean it didn’t happen”. Slash is an autobiography of one of the greatest guitarist in rock history. The book is about the excessive use of drugs, alcohol, and the ups and downs of being in one of the greatest rock bands to grace planet earth that made it so big in just seven years and ended it all with a blink of an eye. This book takes it to the limit on every level. It gives you a detailed description on what it’s like to take life to a point where it just doesn’t matter anymore. This book was a great influence on me, it really opened my eyes and made me realize that what you see on television is just the fun times of being famous and that the cliché term “sex, drugs and rock n roll” plays just a minor role in being a rock star. It’s when you get into detail with these three words you start to realize that is not all fun and games. It really enhanced my love for music and made me understand that the breaking-up of one of my favorite bands was actually for a good cause and that if didn’t happen they would probably end up dead due to overdose or the other crazy stuff that the life a rock star has to offer.
